Forex Dictionary Editor

This editor modifies the ForexInfo.txt dictionary file located in the Dictionary folder.

 

How do I create this file?

 

Copy the included ForexInfo.txt file from the C:\Program Files\TradingBlox\Data\Forex folder into your new folder with forex data.

 

How do I point Trading Blox at my data folder?

 

Once this file is in place, change the location of the forex data folder in Trading Blox.  See Data and Folder Preferences to change the default data folder to your own.

 

You can access the Forex Dictionary editor by choosing the Edit -> Forex Dictionary menu.

Symbol

The symbol for the market. These symbols should be composed of six letter combinations of ISO Standard Currency Codes with the first three letters as the ISO code for the base currency, and the last three as the ISO code for the quote currency.

 

Description         

The name of the market longhand. When creating a new market Trading Blox will fill in this field automatically if the six letter symbol is constructed of valid ISO codes.

 

Data Format        

The data format: ASCII or MetaStock.

 

ASCII File        

For ASCII text format, the name of the file must be input here. 

 

Metastock Symbol

For MetaStock this should be the symbol, which is used to extract information from the MetaStock MASTER file.

 

Pip Size        

The minimum trading increment or PIP. Usually 0.01 or 0.0001.

 

Spread in Pips        

The spread used for both entry and exit slippage. This value is designed to support simulation of retail Forex brokerage slippage which is generally a fixed number of pips. The exact value depends on the broker and the market.

 

Reverse Conversion

This box, if checked, will reverse the currency conversion for use with non-USD denominated futures, stocks, and other currency conversions.

 

Find Symbol

This button will attempt to find the file using the symbol as a starts with search. If you know the name of the file, enter the first few characters in the symbol box and use the find symbol button. Then if found, change the symbol back to the correct forex symbol.

 

Find File

This button will attempt to find the file using the exact file name. Because there can be multiple layers of folders, you can enter just the file name here and Trading Blox will find that file in all of your connected Forex Data Folders.
